The COVID-19 pandemic may have changed the way we travel, but it hasn't curbed our appetite for exploring. Here are some tips on how to handle the new challenges of traveling:

• Find out if any travel restrictions apply to your destination and origin before locking in your flight. Also check if there are any special conditions you'll need to follow on arrival, such as proof of a negative COVID-19 test.
• When you go through airport screening, do not remove your face mask. You will be asked to briefly lower it to confirm your identity. Travelers who refuse to wear a mask may be denied entry or boarding.
• To reduce the possibility of cross-contamination, position your boarding pass on the reader yourself and then hold it up for inspection. Do not hand your pass directly to a TSA officer.
• TSA now permits passengers to take one container of hand sanitizer, up to 12 oz (350 ml) in size, in carry-on bags. This will need to be removed from your bag and presented for screening.
• Remove personal items from your pocket, like your wallet, coins and keys, and put them in your carry-on rather than the bins. This will minimize handling during the screening process.
• If you're bringing food through security screening, place it in a clear plastic bag and then into a screening bin. This lessens the likelihood that a TSA agent will need to touch your carry-on bag or food container for inspection.
